Slippery Elm Bark Organic Powder 100 gm
Ancient Bark, Modern Gut Wisdom
Sourced from the inner bark of the Ulmus rubra tree, our Organic Slippery Elm Bark Powder has been used for centuries in traditional herbal medicine as a gentle, soothing remedy for the digestive tract. When mixed with water, it forms a naturally thick, mucilaginous gel that coats and calms the lining of the gut — making it one of nature’s most effective digestive herbs.
Key Health Benefits
- Soothes & Protects the Gut Lining — The mucilage in slippery elm coats the oesophagus, stomach, and intestinal walls, providing a protective barrier that helps relieve irritation, inflammation, and discomfort.
- Relieves Heartburn & Acid Reflux — Traditionally used to calm the burning sensation of acid reflux and GORD by neutralising excess stomach acid and soothing inflamed tissue.
- Supports Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) — The gentle, bulking action of slippery elm helps regulate bowel movements, easing both constipation and diarrhoea associated with IBS.
- Prebiotic Effect — Acts as a prebiotic, feeding beneficial gut bacteria and supporting a healthy, balanced microbiome.
- Reduces Gut Inflammation — Anti-inflammatory compounds in the bark may help soothe conditions such as gastritis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis.
- Nutritive & Gentle — Rich in mucilage, antioxidants, and trace minerals, slippery elm is gentle enough for sensitive stomachs, convalescence, and those with compromised digestion.
- Respiratory Soothing — Traditionally used to soothe sore throats, dry coughs, and irritated mucous membranes throughout the respiratory tract.
How to Use
Mix 1 teaspoon (approx. 3–5g) into a glass of warm water, herbal tea, or plant-based milk and stir well until a smooth, slightly thick consistency forms. Can also be blended into smoothies, porridge, or soups. Start with a smaller amount and increase gradually.
- For ulcers & gut lining protection — Take 20–30 minutes before meals. This allows the mucilage to coat and protect the stomach lining before food and stomach acid are introduced, providing a soothing barrier over ulcerated tissue.
- For acid reflux & heartburn — Take 30–60 minutes after meals. This helps neutralise residual stomach acid and coats the oesophagus after eating, reducing the burning sensation associated with reflux.
Note: Take slippery elm at least 1–2 hours apart from medications, as the mucilage may slow absorption.
